Ncuti Gatwa is a Rwandan-Scottish actor famous for the role of Eric Effiong in Netflix’s comedy-drama series Sex Education.

On 15 October 1992, Ncuti was born in Nyarugenge, Kigali, Rwanda to his remarkable father Tharcisse Gatwa, and mother whose name is unavailable on the internet.
His father, journalist Tharcisse Gatwa, is a native of Rwanda’s Karongi District and holds a PhD in religion.
The family relocated to Scotland after fleeing Rwanda during the 1994 massacre against the Tutsi. They resided in Dunfermline and Edinburgh.
Before relocating to Glasgow to join the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Gatwa attended Boroughmuir High School and Dunfermline High School.
